It turns the launch of the white iPhone was not all sunshine and roses after all.
Users were quick to notice that the white iPhone 4 is 2mm thicker than the black one.

What's the big deal, you ask?
Well, the issues come when you try and slip certain protective casings on the phone. In other words, some tight iPhone 4 cases won't fit on a white unit.
Phil Schiller from Apple is quoted saying this about the manufacturing of the white iPhone 4: "It's not as simple as making something white. There's a lot more that goes into both the material science of it - how it holds up over time…but also in how it all works with the sensors".
This might explain the added thickness to the white iPhone 4 - they've may put some extra stuff behind the white glass.
It would have been better if Apple mentioned the new thickness on its specs page, no matter how small.
Surely the "actual size and weight vary by configuration and manufacturing process" disclaimer is enough to keep the complaints out, but the users will definitely appreciate any heads-up about the potential incompatibilities.
So do me carful when buying a case for the new White iPhone 4.
